Moscow metro jointly with “Sberbank” has started testing of the fare collection system using cameras with facial recognition. While the system equipment is installed on one station, and a new service is testing the focus group, reports TASS.
“Started a pilot project of fare payment in the subway with the help of face recognition technology. the System is implemented the Moscow metro jointly with Sberbank and the company-developer of Systems. In the first phase of the new scheme fare available at the metro station “Sukharevskaya” for a limited number of passengers,” – said the representative of “Sberbank”.
In the future to pay the fare for the person interested will need to download the special smartphone app and check in, making selfies and tied a Bank card. The cost of one trip when using the system will make 42 roubles.
“To pay the fare the passenger is required to enter the area near the turnstile, marked with a black circle, and look into a camera mounted near the validator. The platform recognizes a face of a passenger, open the turnstile flaps and write off from the card the necessary amount of the fare” – said the press service of the Bank, adding that passengers will not have to remove headgear or glasses to have the system recognize them in person.
